Goodbye, Google I/O...

It was another good year at the I/O conference. Some more notable events were the announcement of a refreshed Nexus line, including the announcement of the Nexus 7 and the Nexus Q. Anyway, the closing of the event is bitter sweet, its been an awesome three days...but Im tired, I want to go play with my new gadgets, and I want to stop writing this...

Google's Cloud Print Beta updates

Google Cloud print announced a lot of improvements in usability, easiness of use, and security. Also, print jobs will automatically delete after it is done and anything older than 30 days will automatically clear the queue. Finally, they are reiterating that cloudprint can print almost any file type, and now HTML.

The conference of lines...

I dont know what it is, but it seems that I have waited in lines a lot more this year than the previous Google I/O conference. Maybe its the extra thousand people here?, or the demos are more time consuming? I dont know, but...its all been a great experience.

Google's Play Store now can update and uninstall apps from devices

One of the advantages the the Android app store had over the iOS app store for a while was the fact that users could load apps directly from the store. Even though the iOS app store has done this through the cloud, Google is staying a step ahead. Also, the Play Store shows what apps are on which device. I always thought that uninstalling apps directly from the desktop would be an awesome feature...I guess I dont have to tell them.

Sergey Brin took everyone by surprise, literally, the co-founder of the search giant cut Vic Gondontra off during his keynote to broadcast a live feed from a plane flying over SF. The plane was filled with parachuters in "flying squirrel" suits equipped with Google's Project Glass prototypes. It was a pretty impressive stunt that went surprisingly well. After showing what the new devices are capable of, I am excited for the wearable computer future.

Jelly Bean is very responsive and the screen on the Nexus 7 looks really nice, should give the Kindle Fire a run for its money.

Whats Nexus?

There is no doubt there will eventually be a Nexus Tablet with all of the rumors and speculation, it is the timing that is somewhat of a mystery. However all fingers are pointing to a first time hardware launch/announcement from a third party at the annual Google conference this year. If a tablet is going to have the Nexus name on it, it has a lot to live up to. The tablet should have the most up to date Android offering and and push the boundaries of technology. So far with the leaked specs the supposed Nexus 7 tablet will be just that. Hi-def display and 1.3 ghz Tegra 3 processor is nothing to laugh at, and with the nexus name comes a new version of the OS, Jellybean. Here is to no more waiting on the 27th...

I want my G.T.V.

We may see more about Google TV at this years Google IO conference than last years. It seems that Google is not giving up on the fight for our living rooms and whole heartedly wish to take over. Sony has already made another commitment to the platform and is realeasing the NSZ-GS7 in mid to late July for $199. There is rumor of more OEMs bringing what they have to the annual conference as well,  so the good news is that we only have 2 more days to find out!
