Dazzling?

Will the new B&N Nook tablet even make a dent in the mass, we have come to know and love called Amazon? The spec are a bit higher than the Fire, but content wise the Fire is the clear winner here. However, the Nook color has been a favorite of the hacking community and some say it is the best selling Android tablet?...So we will see come November 18th...Dazzling? Probably not.

Nokia...wow.

I think that Nokia has really out done itself here. During the Nokia World Conference, Nokia announced the Lumina 800. Nokia has always made solid phones, but their Symbian OS just did not make it here in the US. Now, they are loading their amazing hardware with Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). Let's hope they get a little more momentum with the Lumina 800/N9, 'casue this phone definitely deserves the "double take."

Sprint LTE? I think we should say good bye to Wimax...

Oh yeah! there is a Sprint event tomorrow morning. Like, morning morning...6:30am PST in the morning...But it should be worth it. Maybe we will see the switch to LTE? or more on the iPhone4s? or maybe a new Android phone? It is all up in the air until 6:30am...I hope nobody dies....

Smooth as Silk?

 Amazon is introducing a new mobile web browser along with its new Kindle Fire, Silk. However, its more than the "hum drum" mobile browser that we have come accustomed to. What it does is, it takes your request for pages and hands it off to Amazon's EC2 (Elastic Cloud) server which does all of the computing power for the website request. It was compared by the Amazon developer team as a high speed multi-core computer rendering the site and regurgitating back to the user. So, what does this mean to the end user? well Amazon wants you to think that it provides a speedier browsing experience, which it will do, but at what cost? Privacy. By sending internet queries to the Amazon server, Amazon becomes, a some what, Internet Service Provider (ISP). Basically, the e-retailer giant will see everything you browse, and potentially save that information for an undetermined amount of time. Right now, Amazon has stated that it would only be for 30 days, but that could change (read this article on this). Thankfully, the user can opt out of this service and browse with out the help EC2, which is a relief for the people that are a bit weary of their information. Nevertheless, we are living in an ever growing internet world, so c'mon, how long will privacy even matter?

Will the Kindle Fire bring joy to the saturated second rate tablet race??

There is no doubt that this tablet falls into the sub-Android tablet category, but what the Kindle Fire offers could change the market completely. Amazon has done something new here, instead of building from the already established Android ecosystem, they have created their own, and offer some of most well executed services across the board. They are implementing this device with their lucrative business in e-books, movie streaming, android applications, and the all mighty Amazon online store. People with Amazon Prime, and there are a lot of them (myself included), should definitely look into the Fire as an enhancement to all of the services listed above. This is where I think the tablet can rise above the stagnent  market and set a standard or maybe even be the only player. During his keynote, Jeff Bezos compared Amazon as being Coke in the online retail business and there hasnt been a Pepsi yet. If Amazon can pull this off and have developers behind it, he may not be that far off in the tablet business as well.

Dont worry, the original Kindle still lives!

If you see the new Kindles and wonder what happened to the physical keyboard or ask yourself, "why must I suffer going through an onscreen keyboard using a d-pad like I'm typing my name into an old N64 console to post a high score." than you still have a chance to grab the Kindle 2 for only 100 bucks!

Well here it finally is, Amazon has entered the failing Android tablet market with its Kindle Fire...Even though the Fire looks like it was pieced together from Blackberry Playbook parts, and let's be honest it probably is, I hope it does a lot better than the Playbook did.

The new Kindle Touch

The new Kindle Touch uses infrared sensors to detect touch. Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, says that this is an improved way to enable touch for e-ink displays, and not hinder the reading experience.
